It wasn't vertigo...it was a stroke - David's battle

When the neurologist came in this morning and asked if there had ever been anyone in David's family who'd had a stroke at an early age (20s and 30s); we knew the conversation we'd just overheard in the hall about a young stroke victim was about David.

In December, David had severe vertigo during a chiropractic adjustment. He couldn't stand up; he couldn't stop throwing up; the whole room was spinning and his vision was blurred. After an ambulance trip to UK, the doctor's in the ER dismissed it as something in his inner ear. No tests other than cognitive. They sent him home with some valium and said to see the ENT within a week. The ENT said nothing was wrong with his ears and ordered and MRI, which ended up showing damage in the cerebellum area of the brain. So he was sent to the neurologist, which is where we ended up today.

I can't really wrap my mind around all this yet. I'm worried of course, who wouldn't be? But I'm also mad at the same time that the ER doctors didn't at least run some tests. They obviously just didn't think it could be stroke since he's only in his 30s. David's facing a barage of tests over the next few weeks...blood work...CT with angiogram and an echocardiogram. In the meantime, the neuro just told him to eat healthy and take an aspirin a day. It just seems that everything needs to move faster so we'll know what caused the stroke and learn how to prevent it from happening again.

So today I have no insight, I'm just confused.

I am shocked to hear of David's health concern, but also know that it could happen to anyone at any age.

We will add you and David to our prayer list in our Bible Study class at New Covenant. You guys are always in our prayers.

With much love,
Julie, Buddy, Bekah and Isaac

Father, I asked You for a Word for these dear folks, and I thank You that You have given them this encouraging thought, as I opened Your Word right to it in Jeremiah 32:27, "Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for Me?"
Father I pray this verse would be mightier than words in the heart of this couple. I lift them up to You for Your grace, comfort, and yes, Lord, for Your healing.
You made man. You know his innermost being. I ask you in the name of Christ for deliverance from this trouble in David's battle. Be his strength by Your Spirit, dear Lord. In the very Mighty Name of Jesus I ask these things of You. Amen

Dear Aimee, Just a note to encourage you that God understands when we are concerned for our love ones. Two verses that help me in times of worry and even when I am very fearful: Isa. 26:3 "Thou will keep him in perfect peace who's mind is stayed on thee, because he trust in thee." And Proverbs 3:5 "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding." We Christians have troubles but we have a God who hears us and answers our prayers ( sometimes we don't always get it answered the way we want) but we see His mercy over and over as He fills us with His presence by the Holy Spirit and keeps on keeping us safe in His arms.We will pray as we are still praying for others you know like Bill and JaneE.S. God bless J&J
